Josh Cashman, CFA

Josh Cashman is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) who has spent his career in financial analysis, valuation, and M&A advisory. He co-founded, operated, and sold two financial advisory firms (Intrinsic and Arcstone Partners), and has provided expert testimony for transaction opinions in state and federal courts. He began his career at the TIAA Trust Company, opening its first southwest regional office in Denver.

At QoEAgent, Josh works on the diligence logic itself: what a proof of cash actually has to prove, where quality of earnings analysis tends to break down, and what automated output needs to look like to survive the scrutiny of institutional counterparties. He tests the platform against live transaction work.

Josh is an adjunct professor of finance at the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business, where he completed his law, finance, and business degrees. He maintains an independent advisory practice, PreMA Counsel, through which he provides business valuation and expert testimony, and he supports family offices and foundations on impact investment through iCubed.

Outside the firm, Josh serves on the board of the Parent Teacher Association at University Park Elementary and spends as much time as he can outdoors with his wife and two sons.

What Josh does at QoEAgent

Josh signs the work. Under SOP 50 10 8.1 an SBA quality of earnings report must be performed by an independent professional and prepared for the lender — see who can prepare an SBA quality of earnings report — and the business valuation that accompanies it must come from an accredited Qualified Source. Josh holds the CFA and the Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation, one of the five credentials the SOP names by hand.

Practically, that means he scopes the engagement, reviews the exceptions the software flags, forms the conclusions, and puts his name on the report. He has given expert testimony on transaction opinions in state and federal courts, which is a useful discipline for this work: a number you cannot defend line by line is not worth reporting.

He leads the SBA quality of earnings engagements, the ASC 820 valuation line, and sets what a quality of earnings report costs. He also teaches corporate finance at the University of Denver.

What a client said

“Ron Neufeld and Josh Cashman of QoEAgent built a proof of cash and nearly four years of monthly cash-basis financials, and surfaced accounting adjustments that had never been recorded in the ledger. Their work gave my lender and me a verified view of earnings, and the confidence to walk away when the price did not hold up.”
